monument crisis center

History:

The food program at the Monument Crisis Center started August 19, 2003 in order to help the community after the closing of Cambridge Crisis Center. The Monument Crisis Center’s food program was established with the help of Carondelet High School, The Safeway Foundation, Soroptomist International of Pleasant Hill, and Salvation Army.  On the first day of food distribution there were 84 families and we ran out of food.  Since that time our client base has continued to grow.  Each year an average of 30% of our clients are new. With so much growth we quickly outgrew our old facility and in 2006 we moved to our current location.  Today, we see between 80-120 families during each food distribution, and we have more than 10,000 families and individuals signed up for our food program.  As we have grown, so have our programs.  Although we still remain focused on our food program, we have developed adult education, youth, and senior programs to compliment our mission.  Monument Crisis Center remains a valuable resource for those most in need and continues to grow and develop every year.
